LipidChek Proficiency Testing Scheme

PT Scheme Description

The LipidChek PT scheme has been designed for laboratories testing for chemical composition and other properties of edible Fats & Oils.

Schedule

Proficiency materials in the LipidChek PT scheme are dispatched on alternate months (refer timetable below). Participants are given two weeks to analyse samples and return results.

Sample Description

The following sample types are currently offered in the LipidChek PT scheme:

Analytes

• Free Fatty Acid
• Colour
• Iodine Value
• Drop Point
• Melting Point
• Peroxide Value
• Moisture
• Solid Fat Content
• GC FAME Profile
• GC Profile

Performance Reporting & Evaluation

Statistical summaries and reports are e-mailed to participants within 3 days after the due date for results.

Participants receive:

• Individualised Reports per round e-mailed within 3 days of the result due date. These reports provide information about the data pool of participating laboratories, comparing each laboratory's test results with those of other participating laboratories, including:
  
  • An individual rating per sample
  • An assessment of bias for the set of results
  • An overall rating for the round
  • A histogram comparing the lab performance for the round
  • A control chart showing performance in the year to date
    
• An Annual Report summarising the performance of the participant by test throughout the year and a consolidated summary of all PT materials and data.
