Programme Description

The MaizeChek programme has been designed for maize grain drying facilities, to provide independent samples, to validate the calibration of their NIR Moisture Meters and Test Weight Balances against Reference Methods.

Schedule

During the harvesting season, samples are sent approximately 3 weekly. Results are submitted, and reports are issued comparing results with reference tests.

Samples Description

Maize samples are provided in a target range for moisture of 12% - 35%.

Performance Reporting & Evaluation

Results are initially faxed to participants within the testing week.

Statistical summaries and reports are mailed to participants the following week.

Participants receive:

• Individualised Reports per round. These provide information about the data pool of participating laboratories, comparing the test results with those of other participating sites and include:
  • An individual rating per sample
  • An assessment of bias for the set of results
  • An overall rating for the round
  • A histogram comparing the lab performance for the round
  • A control chart showing performance year to date
